Lifesize vs Nextcloud Talk Desktop
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Lifesize and Nextcloud Talk Desktop — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Lifesize vs Nextcloud Talk Desktop: at a glance
What is Lifesize?
Lifesize feed has degraded to scraped UI chrome.
There is no real product signal in the recent Lifesize feed. The 'entries' are scraped page fragments — site-nav language switchers, popup-dismiss text, a chat-widget greeting, the converse360 chatbot loader, and product-page boilerplate noting the Enghouse Systems acquisition. No release notes, no shipped features, no version events.
What is Nextcloud Talk Desktop?
Nextcloud Talk Desktop 2.3.3 adds accessibility options and bundles Talk v25.0.6.
Nextcloud Talk Desktop v2.3.3 bundles Talk v25.0.6 and adds a high-contrast toggle, a dyslexia-friendly font, a remembered window position and a release channel choice that persists. It also shrinks the app by no longer bundling Talk assets into every entry point, and moves the build to electron-forge v8 with Talk pulled as an npm dependency. v2.3.2 had brought Talk v25 stable and fixed an E2EE call regression and Windows ARM64 crashes.

Lifesize
1.3MEETINGS
Lifesize feed has degraded to scraped UI chrome.
◆ Current state
There is no real product signal in the recent Lifesize feed. The 'entries' are scraped page fragments — site-nav language switchers, popup-dismiss text, a chat-widget greeting, the converse360 chatbot loader, and product-page boilerplate noting the Enghouse Systems acquisition. No release notes, no shipped features, no version events.
◆ Where it's heading
Lifesize is now part of Enghouse Interactive Group, and the public release-notes surface this scraper points at appears to have been retired or replaced by Enghouse's own communications. Until the source feed is repointed, this product has no observable trajectory — silence here is a data-collection problem, not necessarily a product-quality signal.
◆ Prediction
No grounded prediction is possible from this batch. The next useful signal will only arrive if the underlying scraper target is fixed to point at Enghouse's product comms, or if Lifesize-branded products are wound down entirely.
Nextcloud Talk Desktop
2.5MEETINGS
Nextcloud Talk Desktop 2.3.3 adds accessibility options and bundles Talk v25.0.6.
◆ Current state
Nextcloud Talk Desktop v2.3.3 bundles Talk v25.0.6 and adds a high-contrast toggle, a dyslexia-friendly font, a remembered window position and a release channel choice that persists. It also shrinks the app by no longer bundling Talk assets into every entry point, and moves the build to electron-forge v8 with Talk pulled as an npm dependency. v2.3.2 had brought Talk v25 stable and fixed an E2EE call regression and Windows ARM64 crashes.
◆ Where it's heading
With Talk v25 stable, the desktop app has shifted from tracking a major release to polishing it: accessibility, window behaviour and package size. The build changes make it easier to follow Talk server point releases quickly, and the earlier managed-configuration work (Windows GPO, macOS defaults) shows continued attention to enterprise deployment.
◆ Prediction
Expect more frequent v2.3.x builds that bump bundled Talk v25 point releases, helped by the npm-based Talk dependency. Nothing in the entries points to the next major desktop feature.
