What is Merge?

Merge is turning its weekly integration digest into an agent control plane — the news is always at the bottom.

Merge publishes one dated digest a week, and the structure is consistent: unified Accounting, ATS, CRM, File Storage and HRIS reliability work up top, then Agent Handler and Gateway at the end, where the directional changes live. The feed now also carries per-product breakout entries (Gateway, Unified, Agent Handler) that restate the same week's items in more detail rather than adding new ones. The Agent Handler catalog carries hundreds of generic MCP connectors alongside Merge's own, on shared authentication and policy, and Gateway has been accumulating model coverage, routing controls and guardrails over the same period.

What is v0 by Vercel?

v0 is turning a prompt-to-app toy into an addressable build service with a real workspace around it.

v0 ships a substantial digest roughly every two weeks, and the entries are long — 3,000 to 5,000 characters of genuine feature and fix detail, not version stamps. Three threads run through the last ten releases: making the agent programmatically addressable (Platform API v2, an expanding MCP server), deepening design and data sources (direct Figma inspection, Shopify, Snowflake), and hardening the parts users actually trip over (preview sandboxes, ZIP exports, Git-backed chats, scope and SSO bugs).

Merge is turning its weekly integration digest into an agent control plane — the news is always at the bottom.

◆ Current state

◆ Where it's heading

The through-line is that Merge is repositioning from data plumbing to the layer agents pass through. Each week adds either reach (more connectors, more tools per connector, more models) or control (guardrails, per-project policy, access configuration). This window is reach-and-efficiency: the GitHub connector expanded to 145 tools, Outlook payloads were cut substantially, and Gateway guardrails became configurable per project rather than per account.

◆ Prediction

Expect the per-project granularity applied to guardrails to spread to the rest of Gateway's controls, and the connector catalog to keep absorbing hosted third-party MCP servers the way Axiom was added.

v0 is turning a prompt-to-app toy into an addressable build service with a real workspace around it.

◆ Current state

v0 ships a substantial digest roughly every two weeks, and the entries are long — 3,000 to 5,000 characters of genuine feature and fix detail, not version stamps.

◆ Where it's heading

The center of gravity is moving from the chat box to everything around it. Team governance arrived through deployment policies, restricted memories and skills on any paid plan, and request-access flows; the agent gained the ability to act on the workspace itself, listing, inspecting, creating and continuing other chats on request. Meanwhile the model layer is treated as swappable — Opus 4.7 Fast, then Opus 5 and Opus 5 Fast slot into a picker without ceremony — which says the durable moat is being built in the surrounding surface, not in whichever model is current.

◆ Prediction

Expect the Platform API to leave beta and the MCP tool set to keep widening toward full chat lifecycle control, with the workspace features that landed in August getting team-scoped equivalents.
