◆Current state
Holistics is shipping weekly changes on both the modeling and consumption sides of its BI product. Recent modeling work added Data Lineage in the IDE, two-way conversion between AML and Apache Ossie, and branches in place of the Production/Development switch. For viewers it added field descriptions on hover, in-dashboard trend and reference lines, and now an admin-configurable Home with a full-view dashboard and pinned shortcuts.
◆Where it's heading
The release stream keeps putting analysis and context where business users already are, on dashboards and Home, rather than sending them into Explore. Modeling changes meanwhile make the semantic layer more portable and more like a code workflow.
◆Prediction
Expect further admin-level controls over what viewers see first, and more semantic-layer metadata surfaced on dashboards.

    Pick your own color for the "Others" chart group

    Charts now let you set the color of the "Others" group, so the long tail can be muted or highlighted. A small option that fits the month's run of dashboard presentation controls.

    Custom homepage: put key dashboards where everyone lands

    Admins can now set Home for the whole organization: show one dashboard in full view, pin others as buttons and choose which sections appear. It continues the push to put key numbers in front of viewers without them having to look for them.

    Dashboard viewers see field descriptions on column hover

    Hovering a column header now shows the field's viewer-facing description, on embeds and shareable links too. It pushes semantic-layer documentation out to dashboard readers, a small but direct payoff from the modeling work of the past weeks.

    Data Lineage panel traces models and dashboards in the IDE

    A lineage panel below the IDE code shows upstream sources and downstream dependents for any model, dataset or dashboard. Because it is compiled from project code rather than inferred, it pairs with the new branch workflow for safer changes to the semantic layer.

    AML converts to and from Apache Ossie semantic models

    AML models now convert both ways with Apache Ossie, the vendor-neutral semantic model format formerly called OSI. It makes Holistics' modeling layer portable, which lowers switching cost into the product and signals the team is willing to accept the reverse.

    Branch selector replaces the Production/Development mode switch

    Removes a step from the modeling workflow by making the branch selector the only control: master means Production, any other branch means development. It is a smaller change than the dashboard and AI work but matches the same push to remove friction.
