Open-source time-series database for metrics and events

InfluxDB 3.12 brings GA auth and RBAC, then patches lost-write bugs within two weeks.

◆Current state
InfluxDB 3.12.0 made user authentication and role-based access control generally available in Enterprise, added distributed compaction in beta and per-database schema enforcement, and sped up bulk import; it also writes a catalog record that 3.11 can't read, so rollback needs a backup. 3.12.1 and 3.11.7 followed with fixes for a catalog that failed to load after upgrade and for acknowledged writes lost after a forced snapshot and restart. 3.11.5 had introduced the age-based snapshot trigger that exposed that race.
◆Where it's heading
After months of data-correctness patching, InfluxDB 3 is shipping enterprise features again: access control, schema enforcement and scale-out compaction. The patch lines still carry serious storage-layer fixes, including lost acknowledged writes and overwrite ordering, so correctness work hasn't finished. Two lines, 3.11 and 3.12, now get the same fixes in parallel.
◆Prediction
Expect distributed compaction to move toward GA and further 3.12.x patches for upgrade and snapshot edge cases. The entries don't show when 3.11 stops receiving backports.

InfluxDB 3.12.1 fixes lost writes and post-upgrade catalog failures

The first 3.12 patch fixes a catalog that blocked startup after upgrading, acknowledged writes lost after a forced snapshot and restart, and overwrites resolving to the older value. A needed follow-up that shows the storage-correctness work continuing under the new features.

    InfluxDB 3.11.7 backports lost-write and catalog-load fixes

The 3.11 line gets the same catalog-load and lost-write fixes, plus Enterprise fixes for duplicate node IDs and ingest nodes that wouldn't restart after an unclean stop. Operators who aren't ready for 3.12's one-way catalog upgrade still get the data-loss fixes.

InfluxDB 3.12: GA auth and RBAC, distributed compaction beta

3.12 is the first feature release in this run of patches: user authentication and RBAC reach GA in Enterprise, distributed compaction enters beta, and schema enforcement and faster bulk import arrive. It confirms the auth GA the patch lines had been preparing, but the one-way catalog upgrade means a backup is required before trying it.

InfluxDB 3.11.5: age-based snapshots and storage engine upgrade metrics

An age-based snapshot trigger stops low-traffic nodes from holding hours of unsnapshotted data, and Enterprise gains WAL, snapshot and stalled-upgrade metrics. Useful operational visibility for the Parquet engine migration, though the forced-snapshot path later needed a lost-write fix.

InfluxDB v3.11.2: Data-correctness fixes for snapshot races and WAL conflicts

This release addresses six distinct data-correctness bugs in the Core storage layer, including missing rows during snapshot persistence (chunks evicted too early), duplicate rows from concurrent snapshot handoffs, and a partial schema mutation from a rejected line-protocol write. Enterprise adds a `retry-upgrade-to-pacha-tree` command that lets operators resume a stalled storage engine upgrade without data loss, plus compaction backlog and primacy livelock fixes for migration workloads.

InfluxDB v3.11.3: Run-set index rollback safety, OR predicate file pruning fix

Core has no changes in this release — v3.11.3 adds Enterprise-only fixes: the compactor can now read the v3 run-set index format written by later releases, enabling safe rollback from a newer version. A file pruning bug where OR predicates against an unindexed column silently dropped rows on the unindexed side is also resolved.
