ANALYTICS
Velocity5.0

Privacy-focused, open-source web analytics platform

Swetrix adds opt-in outbound link tracking, filling another gap in its tracker.

◆Current state
Swetrix ships roughly one tracker update a month across its JS and Node SDKs. tracker-js 4.8.0 adds automatic outbound link tracking, off by default, with clicks reported under Traffic → Pages → Outbound links and support for dynamic links and middle-clicks. Earlier releases added profile identification (4.5.0), URL parameter and hash allowlists (4.6.0), and automatic page titles (4.7.0 and Node 3.5.0).
◆Where it's heading
Swetrix is filling the standard web-analytics checklist one opt-in feature at a time: identity, URL hygiene, page titles, and now outbound clicks. Each release keeps new collection off by default, which fits a privacy-first positioning. The JS tracker usually leads and the Node SDK follows where the feature applies server-side.
◆Prediction
Expect more opt-in automatic event types in the JS tracker, such as file downloads or form events, on a roughly monthly cadence. The entries don't show what the dashboard will do with identified profiles beyond showing traits.

Swetrix tracker 4.8.0 adds opt-in outbound link tracking

Outbound link clicks become a built-in, opt-in event with their own report, rather than something users wire up as custom events. It continues the tracker's pattern of adding standard analytics coverage while keeping new collection off by default.

    tracker-node@3.5.0

Page title tracking lands in the Node SDK via an optional title field in trackPageView, completing the rollout across both SDKs that began in tracker-js@4.7.0. Server-side tracking now records what page the user actually saw, not just its URL path.

    tracker-js@4.7.0

tracker-js now automatically captures document.title with every pageview, including SPA navigation events. The title is overridable via the trackViews callback and can be suppressed by setting it to null — addressing the common gap between URL paths and what users actually see as page names.

    tracker-js@4.6.1

Custom events now use the page value modified by the trackViews callback, not the raw path. A consistency fix with no new capability.

    tracker-node@3.4.0

Error tracking in the Node SDK can now capture stack traces up to 64,000 characters, up from 7,500 — an 8× increase that accommodates deep async call stacks from modern Node.js frameworks.

    tracker-js@4.6.0

URL tracking gains allowlists for query parameters and hash fragments. Instead of tracking all or none, operators specify exactly which params and hashes appear in tracked page paths — reducing analytics fragmentation from session tokens, UTM parameters, and unrelated hash routing.
