◆Current state
vcmeta provides confidence-interval methods for meta-analysis across correlations, proportions, odds ratios, standardized mean differences and reliability, plus replication-study counterparts to most of them. Each release both widens the function inventory and reshuffles it. The most recent one adds agreement and generalised log-average functions while deleting one function and renaming six others.
◆Where it's heading
The package is converging on a naming scheme, with odds becoming oddsratio and ratio.prop2 becoming propratio2, and it is willing to break calling code to get there. Two of the last three releases carry a self-declared breaking parameter change, both cases where an assumption that used to be baked in became something the user must supply. Growth in the function set is steady rather than directional.
◆Prediction
Expect the renaming pass to continue into the remaining inconsistent names, alongside more replication-study counterparts to existing estimators.

    Six functions renamed toward a consistent scheme, meta.ave.fisher deleted in favour of meta.ave.cor.gen, and se.prop2 and se.prop.ps now require the number of studies so their adjustment can be tuned to it. New agreement and generalised log-average functions arrive alongside the breakage.

    Equal-variance assumption dropped from standardized mean diff

    Drops the equal-variance assumption from the standardized mean difference standard error across four functions, and makes the standardizer an explicit parameter on the replication functions. Correctness first, with the breakage accepted as the cost.

    Homogeneity test, average-variance interval, replication tools

    Stamped 2022 but numbered above the later releases, this entry adds a chi-square test of homogeneity, a confidence interval for an average variance, two proportion standard errors and three replication functions, then renames parameters across the Cronbach and correlation functions for consistency.
