Velocity6.3

Powerful open-source wiki platform with a modern editor, multiple rendering engines, and built-in user management for teams and organizations

Wiki.js 3.0 beta ships an MCP server so AI agents can work against the wiki directly.

◆Current state
Wiki.js 3.0 is still a beta not meant for production, but beta.705 adds a built-in MCP server, refined personal access token scopes, page lifecycle rules with page ownership, a feedback board where reviewers manage ideas, and link completion in the markdown editor. Recent betas added live notes, math, access tokens, SCIM and Excalidraw collaboration.
◆Where it's heading
Each beta adds a piece that larger teams need: SSO and SCIM, governance through ownership and lifecycle rules, and now machine access through MCP and scoped tokens. 3.0 is becoming an AI-accessible knowledge base with enterprise controls rather than a straight successor to 2.x.
◆Prediction
Expect MCP tools to be tied to the new PAT scopes and page rules, and the beta cadence to keep adding governance features before a release candidate.

Wiki.js 3.0 beta adds MCP server and page lifecycle rules

    ⚡ SPARK

beta.705 brings an MCP server, page ownership and lifecycle rules, and a feedback board into 3.0. The MCP server matters most: combined with the scoped access tokens from beta.672, it makes the wiki a source that AI agents can query and edit.

Wiki.js 3 beta adds live notes publishable to pages

beta.685 adds live notes: a personal notes area with custom keys, permissions and an editor/reader switch, which can be published to a page. It continues the beta's shift to authoring workflow, alongside much better editor scroll sync and theme animation options.

Wiki.js 3 beta adds math, access tokens; requires Postgres 17

This beta continues the fill-in phase: inline math for technical docs, personal access tokens and page-rule-scoped API keys for automation, navigation-menu automations and better search results. It also makes PostgreSQL 17 the minimum, a hard requirement anyone planning a 2.x-to-3.0 migration has to budget for.

Wiki.js 3 beta adds draft recovery, slash menu, multi-replica git sync

Unsaved edits now persist in browser storage with a restore prompt, and the visual editor gains a slash menu, which closes common editor gaps before 3.0. The git sync fix for multi-replica deployments follows last release's HA cache fix, and the strip-H1 and README-as-home storage options make Git-backed docs repos easier to publish as-is.

3.0 beta adds OIDC/SAML claim options and hardens v2 import

Optional email_verified, location, job title and pronoun claims for OIDC and SAML extend the SSO work that SCIM started, and admin dashboard stats grow. The fixes carry the weight: 2.x imports no longer time out or overload batches, HA installs keep site caches in sync, and unauthorized uploads can no longer exhaust memory.

    Wiki.js 3.0 beta adds glossary auto-linking and non-Latin paths

A glossary with automatic term linking, child listings on folder pages, and a links-grid block continue the beta's work on structured navigation. The fixes matter more for adoption: 2.x paths are now rewritten to 3.x during import, and non-Latin page paths are hex-encoded, so v2 sites in non-Latin languages have fewer migration problems.
