A side-by-side editorial comparison of Apache Arrow Rust and ASP.NET Core — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Arrow Rust 60.1.0 ships, redacting Parquet encryption keys and adding read-ahead planning.
Arrow Rust published 60.1.0 on Oct 28, the first minor on the 60 line. It redacts Parquet encryption keys from Debug output and adds a scan_plan for read-ahead in the Parquet push decoder, a separate page-index decoder, per-column page row limits, interleaved batch coalescing and new ArrayReader/ArrayIterator concepts. Two days earlier 59.3.2 and 58.4.1 shipped with a use-after-free fix in Buffer::shrink_to_fit and other correctness backports, and 57.3.2 is also out.
ASP.NET Core's October patch day hardens HTTP/2 on 8.0 and 9.0 while .NET 11 waits for GA.
ASP.NET Core services the 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0 branches while .NET 11 sits at RC2. The October 13 patch day shipped 9.0.21 and 8.0.32 with the same fix set: HTTP/2 now rejects newline characters in trailers and the dynamic HPACK table, HTTP/3 abort locking is corrected, and the SignalR Java client no longer hangs when a response read fails. The last 11.0 tag removed DeviceBoundSessions rather than adding anything.

The project ships new Parquet decoding APIs on the current major while pushing memory-safety and data-correctness fixes to three older lines, which suggests downstream engines pin old majors for long periods. The Parquet work keeps aiming at async, push-based reading with finer control over I/O.
Expect 61.0.0 on the usual major cadence, with more push-decoder and page-index APIs, while 59.x and 58.x get further backports.

Servicing work is now mostly protocol hardening and dependency hygiene, applied identically across branches on a shared patch day. The .NET 11 line is in scope-cutting mode, which points to a GA build with fewer features than the previews carried. MCP library bumps in 10.0 patch releases show agent tooling moving on a faster track than the major-version train.
The next tags should be .NET 11 GA and a 10.0 patch carrying the same HTTP/2 hardening. The entries don't show whether DeviceBoundSessions returns after GA.
