What is Hatchet?

Hatchet takes durable tasks serverless, with handlers for Cloudflare Workers, Vercel and Node.

Hatchet's new @hatchet-dev/serverless 0.1.0 runs tasks on Cloudflare Workers, Vercel and Node. An in-engine operator delivers them by signed POST or by an invocation websocket that also carries durable sleeps, waits and child runs. Around it, the engine shipped three patches in a day: DAG replays no longer take an advisory lock, worker shutdown now waits for durable tasks, and status queries use partition pruning. The API now declares 429 with Retry-After on every authenticated call.

What is KubeVirt?

KubeVirt opens v1.10 development with 824 changes while stabilizing v1.9 through two release candidates.

KubeVirt is running parallel development tracks: v1.9 went through two release candidates in July (RC1: 1627 changes, 107 contributors; RC2: 1653 changes, 108 contributors) while v1.10-alpha.0 launched in September with 824 changes from 72 contributors. The release entries don't include detailed change notes, but the scale is consistent with a mature CNCF infrastructure project — each release cycle draws 80-100+ contributors and thousands of file changes. The v1.9 RC changeset (209k insertions) is large for a stabilization phase.

6.3

Hatchet takes durable tasks serverless, with handlers for Cloudflare Workers, Vercel and Node.

◆ Current state

Hatchet's new @hatchet-dev/serverless 0.1.0 runs tasks on Cloudflare Workers, Vercel and Node. An in-engine operator delivers them by signed POST or by an invocation websocket that also carries durable sleeps, waits and child runs. Around it, the engine shipped three patches in a day: DAG replays no longer take an advisory lock, worker shutdown now waits for durable tasks, and status queries use partition pruning. The API now declares 429 with Retry-After on every authenticated call.

◆ Where it's heading

Until now, running Hatchet meant running long-lived workers. The serverless package removes that requirement, so durable execution can run where JavaScript teams already deploy. The engine work points the same way: rate limits declared in the spec, safer worker acks, cheaper status queries. Patch cadence is still very high, often several engine tags a day, and much of it fixes durable-task edge cases.

◆ Prediction

Expect quick 0.1.x serverless releases as early users hit edge cases on each platform, and possibly matching Python handlers. More engine patches on durable-task shutdown and replay are likely.

2.5

KubeVirt opens v1.10 development with 824 changes while stabilizing v1.9 through two release candidates.

◆ Current state

KubeVirt is running parallel development tracks: v1.9 went through two release candidates in July (RC1: 1627 changes, 107 contributors; RC2: 1653 changes, 108 contributors) while v1.10-alpha.0 launched in September with 824 changes from 72 contributors. The release entries don't include detailed change notes, but the scale is consistent with a mature CNCF infrastructure project — each release cycle draws 80-100+ contributors and thousands of file changes. The v1.9 RC changeset (209k insertions) is large for a stabilization phase.

◆ Where it's heading

The parallel alpha/RC cadence suggests a healthy release machine with clearly separated development and stabilization windows. The v1.10-alpha shows more deletions than insertions (179k deletions vs 156k insertions), which typically signals architectural cleanup rather than pure feature addition — removing legacy code paths alongside new development. v1.9 stable is imminent given two RCs have already been cut.

◆ Prediction

v1.9 stable will ship within weeks of the second RC. v1.10 will enter beta within two to three months given the current pace. Without detailed changelogs, specific feature predictions would require reading the PR list for each milestone.
