◆Current state
Outline ships on two tracks: an agent integration surface (April's MCP editing tools, September's browser-native WebMCP) and steady workspace UX work. The October release gives every member a Personal sidebar section for drafts and notes that no one else can see, admins included. That is a notable stance for a team wiki, where admin visibility is usually the default.
◆Where it's heading
Outline is building toward an agent-accessible knowledge base that individuals also use for private work, not only shared documentation. MCP and WebMCP opened the content to agents, Open Knowledge Format export lowered lock-in, and personal documents pull pre-publication drafting into the product. The pattern is to widen what lives in Outline while giving users clear control over who, or what, can reach it.

The next likely move is connecting personal documents to the existing flows, for example promoting a personal draft into a shared collection or defining what the MCP tools can see in personal space.
