COLLAB
Velocity6.3

Privacy-first open-source personal knowledge management system.

SiYuan's 3.8.1 betas are consolidation work, hardening the agent surface 3.8.0 introduced.

Current state
SiYuan is a local-first block-based knowledge base with an AI agent panel, semantic search, a plugin marketplace and a database view layer. The 3.8.1 line is a rapid beta train — six builds in four days — extending the agent features shipped in 3.8.0 rather than opening new ground: an agent panel shortcut, user-level skills loaded from a shared agents directory, and OpenAI Responses API support across the AI features.
Where it's heading
Development has shifted from introducing the agent to making it habitable. The betas cluster around three areas: agent ergonomics, the database and table layer, and import fidelity from Microsoft Office. That last thread is unusually persistent — pasting editable lists from Word and PowerPoint, formulas as editable math, comments from Word and WPS — and reads as a deliberate push at migration friction for users coming from Office-centric workflows. Each beta body restates its predecessors, so only the items at the head of each list are new to that build.
Prediction
The beta cadence and the shrinking size of each delta point to a 3.8.1 stable release shortly. Continued Office-import and table-layout work is the most likely content of the next cycle.

Slash menu items become configurable; table column widths distribute evenly

The sixth 3.8.1 beta, adding configurable visibility and ordering for slash menu items, even distribution and reset of table column widths, and caret placement fixes beside multiline blocks. The OpenAI provider option is also hidden on the Huawei Android channel, a distribution-specific constraint rather than a product decision.

Table headers left-align by default; double-click closes tabs

A thin beta whose new items are left-aligned table headers by default and closing tabs by double-click. Everything below those two lines repeats beta.4's list.

User-level agent skills and virtualized grouped-table rendering

Introduces user-level skills loaded from the shared agents directory, extending the agent system from 3.8.0 with user-supplied capabilities. Database grouping performance also improves with virtualized rendering of grouped tables, and HEIF/HEIC images become previewable.

AI features move to the OpenAI Responses API

Moves the AI features onto OpenAI's Responses API and adds nested rerank request and response formats, keeping the 3.8.0 agent current with the provider interface it depends on. Pasting editable lists from Word and PowerPoint lands in the same build.

Agent panel gains a shortcut; blockquote input fixed

Agent panel ergonomics: a configurable shortcut to open it and a fix for being unable to exit blockquotes in the agent input. Small, but both are friction points that only surface once people use the agent regularly.
