Buttondown vs Zoho Forms: at a glance
What is Buttondown?
Buttondown closes an API send loophole and blocks confirmation-email floods in its daily fixes.
Buttondown is a newsletter platform run on a daily-changelog cadence of small fixes. Over the last week it added sign-in limits, two-factor lockouts and auto-disabled failing webhooks, then closed a gap where API keys without sending access could still send through POST /v1/emails. It also stopped bots from signing one inbox up to many newsletters at once, and raised text contrast in light and dark mode.
What is Zoho Forms?
Zoho Forms has been silent for over a year — AI-generated forms remain the freshest directional move.
Zoho Forms' public blog last shipped content in February 2025, a 15-month gap. The Q1 2025 batch covered form-availability scheduling, mobile image-upload enhancements, and a PDF-to-form converter. Just before the gap, the team launched AI-generated forms and OTP verification.

Buttondown
5.0MKT AUTO
Buttondown closes an API send loophole and blocks confirmation-email floods in its daily fixes.
◆ Current state
Buttondown is a newsletter platform run on a daily-changelog cadence of small fixes.
◆ Where it's heading
The daily polish is running on two tracks: account and API security (rate limits, 2FA lockout, API key permissions, abuse protection) and accessibility (screen-reader support, keyboard navigation, now contrast). Both point at a product being hardened for larger and more compliance-sensitive senders, not at new features.
◆ Prediction
Expect more permission and abuse fixes alongside further accessibility passes, still shipped as daily batches of small fixes.
Zoho Forms
0.0MKT AUTO
Zoho Forms has been silent for over a year — AI-generated forms remain the freshest directional move.
◆ Current state
Zoho Forms' public blog last shipped content in February 2025, a 15-month gap. The Q1 2025 batch covered form-availability scheduling, mobile image-upload enhancements, and a PDF-to-form converter. Just before the gap, the team launched AI-generated forms and OTP verification.
◆ Where it's heading
Visible direction through early 2025 was incremental builder polish plus a meaningful AI bet on form generation. Since then, no public updates — the product appears to be either in maintenance mode within the broader Zoho suite or shipping without communicating. Without fresh signal it's hard to read intent from the surrounding suite alone.
◆ Prediction
If output resumes, the AI Forms surface is the natural extension point — generation today, smarter validation, prefill, and post-submission triage next. If the silence continues, treat Zoho Forms as a stable suite component rather than an actively differentiated product.
