Stream
0.0COMMS
Stream ships open-source Vision AI SDK for multi-modal app testing
◆ Current state
Stream offers two core infrastructure APIs: real-time chat/messaging for in-app communication, and a new open-source Vision AI SDK for building and testing multi-modal AI applications. The Vision AI SDK supports live-edit-test workflows across modalities, targeting engineering teams iterating on AI features rather than end-user consumers.
◆ Where it's heading
Stream is extending beyond its established chat messaging infrastructure into AI-native developer tooling. The Vision AI SDK positions Stream as a building block for AI application developers, not just communication product teams. If this pattern continues, expect more AI-specific primitives shipped alongside the core messaging APIs.
◆ Prediction
The next move is likely deeper integration between the Vision AI SDK and Stream's existing messaging infrastructure, enabling AI apps that combine real-time communication with multi-modal inputs in a single SDK surface.
